The Command department is ultimately responsible for the ship and its crew, and those within the department are responsible for commanding the vessel and representing the interests of Starfleet.

Flight Control
|
Responsible for the navigation and flight control of a vessel and its auxiliary craft, the Flight Control department includes pilots trained in both starship and auxiliary craft piloting. Flight control has also been expanded to include fighter pilots tho they are still given marine rankings.

Shuttle bay Opperations
|
Shuttle bay operations is responsible for handling all shuttle traffic on board a Star Ship as well as the construction, modification, repair, and recovery of fighters, shuttles, and runabouts. Shuttle Bay Operations is also responsible for determining the cause of any malfunction onboard a small craft or star ship. Shuttle Bay Operations is expected to keep all small craft up to Starfleet specifications during any situation.

Strategic Operations
|
The Strategic Operations department acts as an advisory to the command staff, as well as a resource of knowledge and information concerning hostile races in the operational zone of the ship, as well as combat strategies and other such things.

|
The Intelligence department is responsible for gathering and providing intelligence as it becomes possible during a mission; during covert missions, the intelligence department also takes a more active role, providing the necessary classified and other information.

|
The tactical department is responsible for managing the over all tactical readiness of the vessel as well as research and implementation of any ship board weapons modifications.

Security
|
The security department is responsible for all ship board security matters. In normal operations security functions autonomously how ever in situations where additional fire power is required the marine detachment may be used to reinforce security personnel how ever the COS remains in command of all ship board security matters regardless of relative ranks. The security department also works in conjunction with the marine department to develop or reverse engineer new weapons.

|
The engineering department has the enormous task of keeping the ship working; they are responsible for making repairs, fixing problems, and making sure that the ship is ready for anything.

The operations department is responsible for keeping ship systems functioning properly, rerouting power, bypassing relays, and doing whatever else is necessary to keep the ship operating at peak efficiency.

|
The medical & counseling department is responsible for the mental and physical health of the crew, from running annual physicals to combatting a strange plague that is afflicting the crew to helping a crew member deal with the loss of a loved one.

Marine Detachment - The Reapers
|
When the standard security detail is not enough, marines come in and clean up; the marine detachment is a powerful tactical addition to any ship, responsible for partaking in personal combat, from sniping to melee.

Thunder Cats
|
The Thunder Cats Are an elite group of fighter pilots stationed on the vendetta. They are responsible for piloting the various fighters in ship to ship battles, as well as providing escort for shuttles, and runabouts. The Thunder cats have two squadrons stationed on the vendetta, which take shifts, insuring a fighter squadron is always at stand by.

Responsible for representing the Federation and its interest, members of the Diplomatic Corps are members of the civilian branch of the Federation.

|
Ranging from the cook to the teacher to the passenger, the civilians are not really a department, but more an everything else class into which all non-military personnel (besides diplomats) fall. After the borg war civilian trafic on federation ships fell drasticly how ever with the aperant peace civilians have started to return to federation ships.
